In this exercise, you will practice utilizing skills within Claude. Begin, by visiting the "Customize" section of https://claude.ai.

Click on "Skills", then the "+" and "Browse skills" to browse the skills available. Select the /slack-gif-creator skill and install it.

Next, use the skill in a new session to create an animation of your choice.

Next, browse the rest of the skills available for you to add to your workspace. Install a new skill. Then, ask the model to use the skill to perform a task. An example of using the canvas-design skill is below.

Claude supports a "meta-skill" called /skill-creator, a skill that can create skills. In this exercise, we'll utilize the skill creator to create and use a skill of our own. Begin by adding the skill to your workspace.

Then, utilize the skill to create a new skill. Some ideas might include:

• Generating a meme from an image
• A Python code explainer and control flow visualizer
• A funny "national day" social media post generator

Then, invoke the creator to create the skill.

Personal assistants such as OpenClaw are agents that you self-host on your own computer and can provide you an always-on agent that has access to your personal data and on-line accounts. While they have a privacy advantage in that one does not have to upload all of their data to an AI provider ahead of time, agentic access to your entire computer represents a security risk. In this exercise, you'll interact with a personal assistant that is running on a Google Cloud Platform virtual machine that contains access to the slides for the course. The assistant is wired into the classroom's Slack channel https://app.slack.com/client/T0J0350JF/C0AJ5R506SG, allowing you to interact with the assistant using the @OpenClaw mention in Slack.

Join the Slack channel, then interact with the personal assistant that is running on it with queries about the course.
